It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of the conquest of Makkah: "The grass here shall not be cut, the trees here shall not be cut, the game here shall not be chased, and the fallen property here shall not be picked up, except by one who announces it and delivers it to its owner." Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Please make an exception for the grass called 'izkhir.' So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made an exception for it and said: "Except for izkhir, for it is permissible."
