Hadith 317

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، يَقُولُ : " فِيمَا الرَّمَلَانُ الْآنَ ، وَالْكَشْفُ عَنِ الْمَنَاكِبِ ، وَقَدْ أَطَّأَ اللَّهُ الْإِسْلَامَ ، وَنَفَى الْكُفْرَ وَأَهْلَهُ ، وَمَعَ ذَلِكَ لَا نَدَعُ شَيْئًا كُنَّا نَفْعَلُهُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) once said that now during Tawaf, when Allah has granted honor to Islam and has humiliated and expelled disbelief and the people of disbelief, there is no longer any need for ramal (walking briskly with small steps) and uncovering the shoulders. However, even so, we will not abandon it because we have been doing it since the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
