Hadith 310

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَنْبَأَنَا دَيْلَمُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ الْعَبْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَيْمُونٌ الْكُرْدِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : إِنِّي لَجَالِسٌ تَحْتَ مِنْبَرِ عُمَرَ ، وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ ، فَقَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ أَخْوَفَ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ ، كُلُّ مُنَافِقٍ عَلِيمِ اللِّسَانِ " .
Abu Uthman Nahdi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was sitting under the pulpit of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and he was delivering a sermon before the people. In his sermon, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that I fear for my Ummah the most from that hypocrite who is eloquent in speech.
