Hadith 302

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَنْبَأَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تَهْلِكُوا عَنْ آيَةِ الرَّجْمِ " ، وَأَنْ يَقُولَ قَائِلٌ : لَا نَجِدُ حَدَّيْنِ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى ، فَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجَمَ ، وَرَجَمْنَا بَعْدَهُ .
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Protect yourselves from destruction regarding the verse of stoning, lest someone should say, 'We do not find mention of two punishments in the Book of Allah.' I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) carrying out the punishment of stoning, and we ourselves have also carried out this punishment."
