It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of Badr, someone said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Now proceed after the caravan of Quraysh, there is no obstacle left to reach it." Upon hearing this, Abbas—who had not yet embraced Islam at that time—called out and said: "This is not appropriate for you." He was asked: "Why?" He replied: "Allah had promised you one of the two groups, and He has already given it to you."
