Hadith 295

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ ، حَتَّى يَرَوْا الشَّمْسَ عَلَى ثَبِيرٍ ، وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ : أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ كَيْمَا نُغِيرُ ، فَأَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ " .
Amr bin Maymoon says that I heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that the polytheists would not return before sunrise and would say, "Let Mount Thabeer become bright so that we may attack," whereas the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from Muzdalifah towards Mina before sunrise.
