Abdullah bin Abi Mulaika (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that in Makkah Mukarramah, a daughter of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) attended her funeral, while I was sitting between them. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Amr bin Uthman, who was sitting in front of him, "Why do you not stop these people from weeping?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The deceased is punished because of the weeping of his family over him." Then he mentioned the complete hadith.
