It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) along with his noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) reached Makkah on the occasion of ‘Umrat al-Qada, the polytheists began to mock, saying that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions have been weakened by the fever of Yathrib. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the companions to perform ramal (brisk walking) in the first three circuits, so that the polytheists could see their strength. Thus, when the polytheists saw them performing ramal, they said among themselves that the fever of Yathrib has not weakened them.
