مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 2764

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، وَمُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى , عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ مُوسَى , عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ حَنَشٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَخْرُجُ فَيُهَرِيقُ الْمَاءَ , فَيَتَمَسَّحُ بِالتُّرَابِ ، فَأَقُولُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنْكَ قَرِيبٌ , قَالَ : " مَا أَدْرِي ، لَعَلِّي لَا أَبْلُغُهُ " . قَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً أُخْرَى : كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَرَجَ ، فَأُهْرَاقَ الْمَاءَ ، فَتَيَمَّمَ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنَّا قَرِيبٌ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out of the house, relieved himself, and performed tayammum. I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Water is near you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How was I to know? Perhaps I would not be able to reach there."
