It is narrated from Hazrat Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a drink was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also offered it to the people. As the vessel went around, it reached a man who was fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told him to drink as well. Someone said, "O Messenger of Allah! He never leaves fasting; he always fasts." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who always fasts has no (real) fast."
