It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you have a difference of opinion regarding the road, then make it seven cubits wide, and if a person’s neighbor requests him to allow his beam to rest on his wall, he should let his neighbor place the wood with a pillar (so that his building does not collapse)."
