حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ , عَنْ امْرَأَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا : لَيْلَى , عَنْ أُمِّ عُمَارَةَ , قَالَتْ : أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَرَّبْنَا إِلَيْهِ طَعَامًا , فَكَانَ بَعْضُ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ صَائِمًا , فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أُكِلَ عِنْدَ الصَّائِمِ الطَّعَامُ , صَلَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Ammarah (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to her house. She presented dates before the guests. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You also eat." I submitted that I am fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that when food that breaks the fast is being eaten in front of a fasting person, then until they get up, the angels keep praying for that fasting person.
