حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ , عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ , قَالَتْ : تُوُفِّيَتْ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا بِسِدْرٍ , وَاغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا ثَلَاثًا , أَوْ خَمْسًا , أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ , وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا , أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ , فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ , فَآذِنَّنِي " , قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا , آذَنَّاهُ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاة وَالسَّلَامُ , فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حَقْوَهُ , فَقَالَ : " أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), passed away, the Prophet came to us and said: "Wash her three times or more (in odd numbers), and apply camphor at the end, and when you have finished with these things, inform me." So when we finished, we informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he threw his lower garment towards us and said: "Wrap her body in this first."
