حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ , أَنَّ سُوَيْدَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ حُدَيْجٍ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى يَوْمًا ، فَسَلَّمَ وَانْصَرَفَ ، وَقَدْ بَقِيَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ رَكْعَةٌ ، فَأَدْرَكَهُ رَجُلٌ , فَقَالَ : نَسِيتَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ رَكْعَةً , فَرَجَعَ , فَدَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ , وَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا , فَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ , فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ رَكْعَةً , فَأَخْبَرْتُ بِذَلِكَ النَّاسَ " , فَقَالُوا لِي : أَتَعْرِفُ الرَّجُلَ ؟ قُلْتُ : لَا , إِلَّا أَنْ أَرَاهُ , فَمَرَّ بِي ، فَقُلْتُ : هُوَ هَذَا , فَقَالُوا : طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Muawiyah bin Hudaij (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led a prayer, and after one rak'ah was still remaining, he said the salam and left. A man approached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said that you have forgotten one rak'ah of the prayer. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned, entered the mosque, and ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who gave the iqamah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led the people in that one rak'ah. I told the people about this, and they asked me: Do you recognize that man? I said no, but I can recognize him if I see him. Meanwhile, that man passed by me, so I said that this is the one. The people told me that he is Talhah bin Ubaidullah.
