It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to set out on a journey, he would recite this supplication: «اَللّٰهُمَّأَنْتَالصَّاحِبُفِيالسَّفَرِوَالْخَلِيفَةُفِيالْأَهْلِاَللّٰهُمَّإِنِّيأَعُوذُبِكَمِنْالضُّبْنَةِفِيالسَّفَرِوَالْكَآبَةِفِيالْمُنْقَلَبِاَللّٰهُمَّاقْبِضْلَنَاالْأَرْضَوَهَوِّنْعَلَيْنَاالسَّفَرَ» "O Allah! You are my companion in travel and the guardian of my family in my absence. O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the hardship of travel and distress upon return. O Allah! Fold the earth for us and make this journey easy for us."
