Hadith 27203

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ الْأَقْرَعِ بْنِ حَابِسٍ , أَنَّهُ نَادَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحُجُرَاتِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ , إِنَّ حَمْدِي زَيْنٌ , وَإِنَّ ذَمِّي شَيْنٌ ، فَقَالَ : " ذَاكُمْ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " ، كَمَا حَدَّثَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aqra’ bin Habis (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he called out to the Prophet (peace be upon him) from outside the chambers, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not reply to him. He then called out again, saying, "O Messenger of Allah," and said, "My praise is an adornment and my criticism is a cause of disgrace and shame." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "This is only for Allah."
