ومن مسند بني هاشمFrom the Musnad of Banu Hashim
مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 2717

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَقْرَأَنِي جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام عَلَى حَرْفٍ ، فَرَاجَعْتُهُ ، فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أَسْتَزِيدُهُ ، وَيَزِيدُنِي ، حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibreel (peace be upon him) taught me the Qur'an on one mode, but I kept requesting him for more, and he continued to increase it for me until it reached seven modes, and then he stopped."
