حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي عَمَّتِي سَارَةُ بِنْتُ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ كَرْدَمٍ ، قَالَتْ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ ، وَهُوَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ ، وَأَنَا مَعَ أَبِي ، وَبِيَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دِرَّةٌ كَدِرَّةِ الْكُتَّابِ ، فَسَمِعْتُ الْأَعْرَابَ وَالنَّاسَ يَقُولُونَ : الطَّبْطَبِيَّةَ ، فَدَنَا مِنْهُ أَبِي ، فَأَخَذَ بِقَدَمِهِ ، فَأَقَرَّ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : فَمَا نَسِيتُ فِيمَا نَسِيتُ طُولَ أُصْبُعِ قَدَمِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ عَلَى سَائِرِ أَصَابِعِهِ , قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي : إِنِّي شَهِدْتُ جَيْشَ عِثْرَانَ , قَالَتْ : فَعَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَلِكَ الْجَيْشَ , فَقَالَ طَارِقُ بْنُ الْمُرَقَّعِ : مَنْ يُعْطِينِي رُمْحًا بِثَوَابِهِ ؟ قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : وَمَا ثَوَابُهُ ؟ قَالَ : أُزَوِّجُهُ أَوَّلَ بِنْتٍ تَكُونُ لِي ، قَالَ : فَأَعْطَيْتُهُ رُمْحِي ، ثُمَّ تَرَكْتُهُ حَتَّى وُلِدَتْ لَهُ ابْنَةٌ ، وَبَلَغَتْ ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : جَهِّزْ لِي أَهْلِي ، فَقَالَ : لَا وَاللَّهِ ، لَا أُجَهِّزُهَا حَتَّى تُحْدِثَ صَدَاقًا غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ ، فَحَلَفْتُ أَنْ لَا أَفْعَلَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَبِقَدْرِ أَيِّ النِّسَاءِ هِيَ ؟ " , قَلتُ : قَدْ رَأَتْ الْقَتِيرَ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " دَعْهَا عَنْكَ ، لَا خَيْرَ لَكَ فِيهَا " , قَالَ : فَرَاعَنِي ذَلِكَ ، وَنَظَرْتُ إليه ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَأْثَمُ ، وَلَا يَأْثَمُ صَاحِبُكَ " , قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَقَامِ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ أَنْ أَذْبَحَ عَدَدًا مِنَ الْغَنَمِ ، قَالَ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا , قَالَ : خَمْسِينَ شَاةً عَلَى رَأْسِ بُوَانَةَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلْ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَوْثَانِ شَيْءٌ ؟ " , قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " فَأَوْفِ لِلَّهِ بِمَا نَذَرْتَ لَهُ " , قَالَتْ : فَجَمَعَهَا أَبِي ، فَجَعَلَ يَذْبَحُهَا ، وَانْفَلَتَتْ مِنْهُ شَاةٌ ، فَطَلَبَهَا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ أَوْفِ عَنِّي بِنَذْرِي , حَتَّى أَخَذَهَا ، فَذَبَحَهَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Maymunah bint Kardam (may Allah be pleased with her) that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in Makkah Mukarramah. At that time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) was riding his camel and I was with my father. In the hand of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was a whip similar to the ones teachers have. I heard the villagers and common people saying, "Tabtabiyyah has come." My father approached the Prophet (peace be upon him) and held his feet. The Prophet (peace be upon him) lifted him up. She says, "I have forgotten many things, but I have not forgotten that the toe next to the big toe of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was longer than the other toes." My father informed the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he had participated in the "Jaish Usran" during the time of ignorance. The Prophet (peace be upon him) knew about this army, so he recognized it. My father said that in that battle, Tariq bin Murqa' announced, "Who will give me his spear in exchange for a reward?" I asked him, "What will be the reward?" He said, "I will marry off the first daughter born to me to him." So I gave him my spear. After that, I left him for some time until a girl was born to him and she grew up. I went to him and said, "Prepare for my wife's departure (marriage)." He replied, "By Allah! I will not prepare her until you set a new dowry besides that." At this, I also swore that I would not do so. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "How old is she now?" I replied, "Now she has reached old age." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Leave her, there is no good for you in her." At this, I feared that my oath would be broken and I looked towards the Prophet (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "You will not be sinful, nor will the other party be sinful." Hazrat Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) says that my father made a vow at that very place that I will slaughter fifty goats at the peak of Buwana. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Is there any idol or anything (of shirk) there?" He replied, "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Then fulfill the vow you made for Allah." So my father gathered those goats and began to slaughter them. In the meantime, one goat ran away. He ran after it in search and said, "O Allah! Complete my vow," until he caught it and slaughtered it.
