حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ جُدَامَةَ بِنْتِ وَهْبٍ الْأَسَدِيَّةِ ، قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَنْ أَنْهَى عَنِ الْغِيلَةِ ، حَتَّى ذَكَرْتُ أَنَّ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومَ يَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ ، فَلَا يَضُرُّ أَوْلَادَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Judamah bint Wahb (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was about to prohibit men from approaching their wives during the period of breastfeeding, but then I was informed that the people of Persia and Rome do so and it does not harm their children in any way (therefore, I abandoned this intention)."
