حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، قَالَتْ : قَدِمَتْ عَلَيَّ أُمِّي وَهِيَ رَاغِبَةٌ ، وَهِيَ مُشْرِكَةٌ فِي عَهْدِ قُرَيْشٍ وَمُدَّتِهِمْ الَّتِي كَانَتْ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ أُمِّي قَدِمَتْ عَلَيَّ وَهِيَ رَاغِبَةٌ ، وَهِيَ مُشْرِكَةٌ ، أَفَأَصِلُهَا ؟ قَالَ : " صِلِيهَا " , قَالَ : وَأَظُنُّهَا ظِئْرَهَا.
It is narrated from Hazrat Asma that once my mother came during the time of the treaty with the Quraysh. At that time, she was a polytheist and in need. I asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "Can I maintain ties of kinship with her?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Yes, maintain ties of kinship with your mother."
