حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ , أنها قَالَتْ : فَزِعَ يَوْمَ كَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخَذَ دِرْعًا حَتَّى أَدْرَكَ بِرِدَائِهِ ، فَقَامَ بِالنَّاسِ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا ، يَقُومُ ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُ ، فَلَوْ جَاءَ إِنْسَانٌ بَعْدَمَا رَكَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , لَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ رَكَعَ ، مَا حَدَّثَ نَفْسَهُ أَنَّهُ رَكَعَ ، مِنْ طُولِ الْقِيَامِ , قَالَتْ : فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْمَرْأَةِ الَّتِي هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنِّي ، وَإِلَى الْمَرْأَةِ الَّتِي هِيَ أَسْقَمُ مِنِّي قَائِمَةً ، وَأَنَا أَحَقُّ أَنْ أَصْبِرَ عَلَى طُولِ الْقِيَامِ مِنْهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Asma that on the day when there was a solar eclipse, the Prophet (peace be upon him) became anxious and took his shirt and wrapped a sheet over it, and with the people performed a long standing (in prayer). The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept standing and bowing during this time. I saw a woman who was older than me but she was standing, then I saw a woman who was more ill than me but still she was standing. Seeing this, I thought that I am more deserving to stand with steadfastness than you.
