حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ , أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " فَزِعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ كَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ ، فَأَخَذَ دِرْعًا حَتَّى أَدْرَكَ بِرِدَائِهِ ، فَقَامَ بِالنَّاسِ قِيَامًا طَوِيلًا ، يَقُومُ ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُ ، قَالَتْ : فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْمَرْأَةِ الَّتِي هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنِّي قَائِمَةً ، وَإِلَى الْمَرْأَةِ الَّتِي هِيَ أَسْقَمُ مِنِّي قَائِمَةً ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنِّي أَحَقُّ أَنْ أَصْبِرَ عَلَى طُولِ الْقِيَامِ مِنْكِ " , وقَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَزِعَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Asma that on the day when there was a solar eclipse, the Prophet (peace be upon him) became anxious and took his shirt and put a cloak over it, and with the people performed a long standing (in prayer). The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept standing and bowing during this time. I saw a woman who was older than me but she was standing, then I saw a woman who was more ill than me but still she was standing. Seeing this, I thought that I am more deserving to stand with steadfastness than you.
