It is narrated from Hazrat Safiyyah that on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his noble wives along with him. While they were still on the way, a man dismounted and began to drive the mounts of the noble wives quickly. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Take these glass vessels (women) gently." During the journey, Hazrat Safiyyah's camel became unruly. Her mount was the best and most beautiful among them. She began to weep. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) found out, he came and began to wipe her tears with his blessed hand, but she wept even more. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept forbidding her, but when he saw that she was crying even more, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade her sternly and ordered the people to camp, even though there was no intention to camp at that place. The people set up camp. Coincidentally, it was Hazrat Safiyyah's turn that day. A tent was set up for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he went into his tent.

Hazrat Safiyyah says that she did not know how to approach the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She was afraid that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might be displeased with her. So she went to Hazrat Aisha and said, "You know that I cannot sell my turn with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for anything, but today I give you my turn on the condition that you make the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pleased with me." Hazrat Aisha agreed, took her scarf which she had dyed with saffron, sprinkled water on it so that its fragrance would spread, then put on new clothes and went towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When she reached near the Prophet's tent, she lifted a corner of the curtain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw her and said, "Aisha! What is the matter? Today is not your turn." She replied, "This is the bounty of Allah, He gives it to whom He wills." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spent that afternoon resting with his noble wife (Hazrat Aisha).

When it was time to depart, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Hazrat Zainab bint Jahsh, who had more space in her mount, "Take your sister Safiyyah with you on your camel." Hazrat Zainab blurted out, "Shall I take your Jewish wife with me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became displeased upon hearing this and stopped speaking to her until they reached Makkah Mukarramah, spent the days in Mina, and then returned to Madinah Munawwarah. The months of Muharram and Safar passed, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not go to Hazrat Zainab, not even on her turn, which made Hazrat Zainab somewhat hopeless. When the month of Rabi' al-Awwal came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to her. She thought, "This shadow must be of some man; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not coming to me, so who is this?" Meanwhile, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the house. Seeing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Hazrat Zainab said, "O Messenger of Allah! Out of happiness, I do not know what to do at your arrival." She had a slave girl who used to prepare the tent for her. She said, "Such-and-such slave girl is now yours." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walked to Hazrat Zainab's bed, placed his hand on it, then secluded himself with her and became pleased with her.
