حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ , وَيَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ مِقْسَمًا ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أُوتِرُ بِثَلَاثٍ ، ثُمَّ أَخْرُجُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَفُوتَنِي ؟ قَالَ : لَا يَصْلُحُ إِلَّا بِخَمْسٍ أَوْ سَبْعٍ ، فَأَخْبَرْتُ مُجَاهِدًا , وَيَحْيَى بْنَ الجَزَّارِ بِقَوْلِهِ , فَقَالَا لِي سَلْهُ ، عَمَّنْ ؟ فَسَأَلْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : عَنْ الثِّقَةِ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ , وَعَائِشَةَ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Hakam says that I asked Maqsim whether I could pray three rak'ahs of Witr and then go for prayer so that I would not miss the prayer. He replied, "Witr should be five or seven." I mentioned this opinion before Mujahid and Yahya bin Jazaa. They said, "Ask him for the chain of narration." I asked Maqsim for the chain, and he said, "A trustworthy narrator reports this from Hazrat Maymunah and Aisha."
