Sulaiman bin Yasar says that once Umar Farooq perceived the scent of perfume at Dhul-Hulaifah. He asked, "Where is this scent coming from?" Amir Muawiyah replied, "Amir al-Mu'mineen, this scent is coming from me." Umar asked, "Is it really coming from you?" He replied, "This perfume was applied to me by (my sister, the Mother of the Believers) Umm Habibah, and she says that she also applied perfume to the Ihram of the Prophet (peace be upon him)." Umar said, "Go to her and make her swear to wash it off." So he went back to her and she washed it off.
