حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ : مَا نَسِيتُهُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ وَقَدْ اغْبَرَّ صَدْرُهُ وَهُوَ يُعَاطِيهِمُ اللَّبِنَ ، وَيَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ الْخَيْرَ خَيْرُ الْآخِرَهْ فَاغْفِرْ لِلْأَنْصَارِ وَالْمُهَاجِرَهْ " , قَالَ : فَأَقْبَلَ عَمَّارٌ ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ , قَالَ : " وَيْحَكَ ابْنَ سُمَيَّةَ ، تَقْتُلُكَ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ " , قَالَ : فَحَدَّثْتُهُ مُحَمَّدًا ، فَقَالَ : عَنْ أُمِّهِ ؟ أَمَا إِنَّهَا قَدْ كَانَتْ تَلِجُ عَلَى أَمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that I do not forget the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which he said on the occasion of the Battle of the Trench, when the blessed chest of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was covered with dust. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was handing bricks to the people and kept saying: "O Allah, the real goodness is the goodness of the Hereafter, so forgive the Ansar and the Muhajireen." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Hazrat Ammar and said: "O son of Sumayyah, alas! A rebellious group will kill you."
