حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , وَحَجَّاجٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ أَخِي أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ : " يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ ، ثُمَّ يَصُومُ يَوْمَهُ " , قَالَ : فَتَرَكَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ فُتْيَاهُ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that sometimes ghusl (ritual bath) would become obligatory upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) by choice, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) would still observe the fast. Upon this, Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) retracted his previous fatwa.
