حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي مَنْ لَا يَرَانِي بَعْدَ أَنْ يُفَارِقَنِي " , قَالَ : فَأَتَى عُمَرَ ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَاهَا عُمَرُ ، فَقَالَ : أُذَكِّرُكِ اللَّهَ ، أَمِنْهُمْ أَنَا ؟ قَالَتْ : اللَّهُمَّ لَا ، وَلَنْ أُبْلِيَ أَحَدًا بَعْدَكَ.
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Some of my companions will be such that after our separation, they will never see me again." When Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf went out, he met Hazrat Umar on the way and told him about this. Hazrat Umar himself went to Hazrat Umm Salamah and entered the house, and said, "Swear by Allah and tell me, am I also among them?" She replied, "No, but after you, I cannot say this about anyone else."
