It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that in Madinah Munawwarah, two men used to dig graves. Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) would make a box-shaped grave as was the custom of the people of Makkah, and Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him)—whose real name was Zayd bin Sahl—would make a side niche grave for the people of Madinah. So Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) called two men, sent one to Sayyiduna Abu Ubaidah (may Allah be pleased with him) and the other to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), and prayed, "O Allah! Choose for Your Prophet that which is better." Thus, the man who went to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) found him and brought him, and in this way, a side niche grave was prepared for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
