حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خَلِيفَةَ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ ، عَنْ الْمَعْرُورِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِذَا ظَهَرَتْ الْمَعَاصِي فِي أُمَّتِي ، عَمَّهُمْ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِعَذَابٍ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ " , فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَمَا فِيهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ أُنَاسٌ صَالِحُونَ ؟ ! قَالَ : " بَلَى " , قَالَتْ : فَكَيْفَ يَصْنَعُ أُولَئِكَ ؟ قَالَ : " يُصِيبُهُمْ مَا أَصَابَ النَّاسَ ، ثُمَّ يَصِيرُونَ إِلَى مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When evil spreads in the land, it will not be able to be stopped, and then Allah will send His punishment upon the people of the earth." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, will the righteous people also be included in it, and will the same calamity befall them as befalls the common people?" He replied, "Then Allah will draw them towards His forgiveness and pleasure."
