حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهَا سُئِلَتْ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : كَانَ : يُقَطِّعُ قِرَاءَتَهُ آيَةً آيَةً بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 1 , الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 2 ، الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 1 ، مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ سورة الفاتحة آية 4 .
It is narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaykah that someone asked Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) about the recitation of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so she said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite each verse separately, breaking them apart. Then she recited the first three verses of Surah Al-Fatihah, breaking them apart (pausing at the end of each verse) to demonstrate.
