قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ : مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ حَفْصَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا : " سَكَتَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ بِالصُّبْحِ ، وَبَدَا الصُّبْحُ ، صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُقَامَ الصَّلَاةُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Hafsa that at the time of the true dawn, when the muezzin would give the call to prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would perform two short rak'ahs before the establishment of the (Fajr) prayer.
