ومن مسند بني هاشمFrom the Musnad of Banu Hashim
مُسْنَدُ عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَاMusnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 2642

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ يحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمْ الْحَجُّ " , قَالَ : فَقَامَ الْأَقْرَعُ بْنُ حَابِسٍ ، فَقَالَ : أَفِي كُلِّ عَامٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " لَوْ قُلْتُهَا لَوَجَبَتْ ، وَلَوْ وَجَبَتْ لَمْ تَعْمَلُوا بِهَا ، وَلَمْ تَسْتَطِيعُوا أَنْ تَعْمَلُوا بِهَا ، الْحَجُّ مَرَّةٌ ، فَمَنْ زَادَ فَهُوَ تَطَوُّعٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us and said, "O people! Hajj has been made obligatory upon you." Upon hearing this, Aqra' bin Habis stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Is Hajj obligatory every year?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If I had said yes, it would have become obligatory upon you every year, but if that had happened, you would not have been able to do it. Hajj is obligatory only once in a lifetime, and whatever is more than that will be voluntary Hajj."
