Hadith 264

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ قَزَعَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ : " يُعَذِّبُ اللَّهُ هَذَا الْمَيِّتَ بِبُكَاءِ هَذَا الْحَيِّ ؟ " فَقَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مَا كَذَبْتُ عَلَى عُمَرَ ، وَلَا كَذَبَ عُمَرُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Qaza’ah says: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), “Will Allah punish the deceased because of the weeping and wailing of the people of the neighborhood?” He replied: “This statement was narrated to me by Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I have not falsely attributed it to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), nor did Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) falsely attribute it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).”
