حَدَّثَنَا عَامِرُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَ بِبِنَاءِ الْمَسَاجِدِ فِي الدُّورِ , وَأَمَرَ بِهَا أَنْ تُنَظَّفَ وَتُطَيَّبَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that mosques be made in the houses and that they be kept clean and pure.
