حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ , عَنْ أَفْلَتَ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ , قَالَ أَبِي : سُفْيَانُ يَقُولُ : فُلَيْتٌ عَنْ جَسْرَةَ بِنْتِ دَجَاجَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , قَالَتْ : بَعَثَتْ صَفِيَّةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِطَعَامٍ قَدْ صَنَعَتْهُ لَهُ وَهُوَ عِنْدِي , فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُ الْجَارِيَةَ , أَخَذَتْنِي رِعْدَةٌ حَتَّى اسْتَقَلَّنِي أَفْكَلُ , فَضَرَبْتُ الْقَصْعَةَ , فَرَمَيْتُ بِهَا , قَالَتْ : فَنَظَرَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَعَرَفْتُ الْغَضَبَ فِي وَجْهِهِ , فَقُلْتُ : أَعُوذُ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَنْ يَلْعَنَنِي الْيَوْمَ , قَالَتْ : قَالَ : " أَوْلَى " , قَالَتْ : قُلْتُ : وَمَا كَفَّارَتُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " طَعَامٌ كَطَعَامِهَا , وَإِنَاءٌ كَإِنَائِهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I have not seen a woman who cooked better food than Hazrat Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her). Once, she sent a dish to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which there was food. I could not control myself and broke that dish. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards me, and I saw signs of anger on his blessed face. I said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I seek refuge in Allah that He may curse me today." Then I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the expiation for this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A dish like the dish and food like the food."
