Hadith 263

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ : أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُ تُصِيبُنِي الْجَنَابَةُ ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَغْسِلَ ذَكَرَهُ ، وَيَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "If I become impure, what should I do?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to wash his private parts, perform ablution as for prayer, and then go to sleep.
