It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a person asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the ruling for a man who sees wetness but does not remember a dream. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that he should perform ghusl (ritual bath). The questioner asked, "What about a man who thinks he saw a dream but does not find any wetness—what is the ruling?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There is no ghusl upon him." Hazrat Umm Sulaim asked, "If a woman sees something like that, is ghusl obligatory upon her as well?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes! For women are the counterparts of men."
