حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ , حَدَّثَنَا كَهْمَسٌ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ , قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ شَهْرًا كُلَّهُ ؟ قَالَتْ : " مَا عَلِمْتُهُ صَامَ شَهْرًا كُلَّهُ حَتَّى يُفْطِرَ مِنْهُ إِلَّا رَمَضَانَ , وَلَا أَفْطَرَ شَهْرًا كُلَّهُ حَتَّى يَصُومَ مِنْهُ حَتَّى مَضَى لِوَجْهِهِ , أَوْ لِسَبِيلِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Abdullah bin Shaqiq says that I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the voluntary fasts of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so she replied that apart from Ramadan, I do not know of any month in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fasted, broke the fast, or did not fast, until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) departed from this world.
