حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَاصِمٍ مَوْلًى لِقُرَيْبَةَ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ , عَنْ قُرَيْبَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فِي الصَّوْمِ , فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ؟ قَالَ : " أَنَا لَسْتُ كَأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ , إِنِّي أَبِيتُ أُطْعَمُ وَأُسْقَى " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade continuous fasting. I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "But you observe fasts in this manner?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "I am not like any of you. I spend the night in such a state that food and drink are provided for me."
