Hadith 260

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيذِ ، فَقَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ وَالدُّبَّاءِ " ، فَلَقِيتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ ، فَأَخْبَرَنِي فِيمَا أَظُنُّ : عَنْ عُمَرَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ وَالدُّبَّاءِ " ، شَكَّ سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : فَلَقِيتُ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ وَالدُّبَّاءِ " .
Imran Aslami, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, about the nabidh (fermented drink) of a pitcher. He replied that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the nabidh of a pitcher and of a gourd. Then I asked the same question to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, so he narrated this hadith from Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the use of a gourd and a green pitcher. Then I asked the same question to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair, may Allah be pleased with him, and he also said that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade the nabidh of a pitcher and of a gourd.
