حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ , أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ , عَنْ قَتَادَةَ , عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ : " مُرْنَ أَزْوَاجَكُنَّ أَنْ يَغْسِلُوا عَنْهُمْ أَثَرَ الْغَائِطِ وَالْبَوْلِ فَإِنِّي أَسْتَحْيِيهِمْ , وَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that some women from Basra came to her, so she instructed them to perform istinja with water and said: "Order your husbands to do the same, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to perform istinja with water."
