حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى , عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , قَالَتْ : " كَانَ أَكْثَرُ صَوْمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ شَهْرٍ مِنَ السَّنَةِ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ , فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَصُومُهُ كُلَّهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fasting abundantly in the month of Sha'ban; I did not see him fasting so much in any other month. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast almost the entire month, leaving only a few days.
