Hadith 25820

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ , عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، قَال : َقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ لِابْنِ أَبِي السَّائِبِ قَاصِّ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَة ِ " ثَلَاثًا لَتُبَايِعَنِّي عَلَيْهِنَّ أَوْ لَأُنَاجِزَنَّكَ ؟ " فَقَالَ مَا هُنَّ ؟ بَلْ أَنَا أُباِيعُكِ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ , قَالَتْ : " اجْتَنِبْ السَّجْعَ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابَهُ كَانُوا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِك " , وَقَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ مَرَّةً , فَقَالَتْ : " إِنِّي عَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابَهُ وَهُمْ لَا يَفْعَلُونَ ذَاكَ " , وَقُصَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ مَرَّةً , فَإِنْ أَبَيْتَ فَثِنْتَيْنِ , فَإِنْ أَبَيْتَ فَثَلَاثًا , فَلَا تَمَلُّ النَّاسُ هَذَا الْكِتَابَ وَلَا أَلْفيَنَّكَ تَأْتِي الْقَوْمَ وَهُمْ فِي حَدِيثٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِهِمْ , فَتَقْطَعُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَدِيثَهُمْ وَلَكِنْ اتْرُكْهُمْ , فَإِذَا جَرَّءُوكَ عَلَيْهِ وَأَمَرُوكَ بِهِ فَحَدِّثْهُمْ .
It is narrated from Imam Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that once Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to a preacher of Madinah Munawwarah, whose name was Ibn Abi Sa’ib: “There are three things which you must acknowledge before me, otherwise I will fight with you.” He asked, “What are they, O Mother of the Believers? I acknowledge them before you.” She said: “Firstly, avoid composing rhymed phrases in supplication, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) did not do so. Secondly, in the Friday gathering, deliver the sermon to the people only once; if not, then twice, but not three times, so that you do not cause people to become weary of this book. Thirdly, I should never find you going to people while they are engaged in their own conversations and you interrupting them; rather, leave them as they are. If they allow you to come forward and permit you to join their conversation, then participate in their discussion.”
