حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، " أَنَّ بَرِيرَةَ كَانَتْ مُكَاتَبَةً وَكَانَ زَوْجُهَا مَمْلُوكًا فَلَمَّا أُعْتِقَتْ خُيِّرَتْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Barirah had made a "mukatab" agreement with her master, and her husband was a slave. Therefore, when she was freed, she was given the choice to either maintain the marriage or end it.
