حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَائِمًا وَقَاعِدًا ، فَإِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ قَائِمًا ، رَكَعَ قَائِمًا ، وَإِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ قَاعِدًا ، رَكَعَ قَاعِدًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the night prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand for a long time and sit for quite a while. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite and perform bowing (ruku) while standing, and he would also recite and perform bowing and prostration (sujood) while sitting.
