It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said during his final illness, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Bakr is a soft-hearted man; he will not be able to control his tears, because whenever Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) recites the Holy Qur'an, he starts weeping." But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again said, "Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer." I said to Hafsa, "You tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) will not be able to make the people hear due to his weeping, so you should order Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) to do it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again gave the same order and said, "You are like the women who were infatuated with Yusuf (peace be upon him) (who concealed something in their hearts and expressed something else with their tongues)." Hearing this, Hafsa turned to me and said, "I have gained no good from you."
