It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that once some Jews sought permission to enter the house of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "As-Saam Alaikum" (which means: death be upon you). Hearing this, Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "Death and curse be upon you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her)! Allah likes gentleness in every matter." She said, "Did you not hear what they said?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "I have already responded to them: Wa Alaikum (death be upon you)."
