Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that since I became conscious, I found my parents always following the religion, and there was never a day that the Messenger of Allah did not come to our house in both parts of the day, that is, morning and evening. But when the Muslims began to be persecuted more severely, Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) set out with the intention of migrating to the land of Habash (Abyssinia). At the place of Bark al-Ghamad, he met Ibn Daghna, the chief of the tribe of Qarah, who said, "O Abu Bakr! Where are you intending to go?" Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "My people have expelled me..." Then she mentioned the complete hadith.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that at that time the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Makkah, and he had told the Muslims, "The place of your migration has been shown to me in a dream; it is situated between two rocky tracts and has many date-palm trees." So those who migrated to Madinah did so, and those who had left their homeland and gone to Habash also returned to Madinah, and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) also began preparations to migrate to Madinah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Wait a little! I hope I will also be granted permission to migrate." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, do you hope for this?" He replied, "Yes!" So Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) waited to accompany him, and he fed two she-camels leaves of the acacia tree and kept them ready for four months.

One day, during the intense heat of midday, we were sitting inside the house when someone said to Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has come." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came at a time when he usually did not come, with his face covered. Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "May my parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah, you have come at this time for some important matter?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for permission to enter, and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) granted it. When he entered, he said, "Send out those who are with you, for I have something confidential to say." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "They are only my family." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I have been granted permission to migrate from here." Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Will I have the honor of companionship?" He replied, "Yes!" Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), may my parents be sacrificed for you, take one of these two she-camels." He said, "I will buy it."

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that we quickly prepared the provisions for their journey and prepared a food bag. Asma cut a piece from her waistband and tied the mouth of the bag with it; because of this, she was called "Dhat an-Nitaq." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that after this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the cave of Thawr and remained hidden there for three days and nights.
