حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : " إِنَّمَا نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُحَصَّبَ لِيَكُونَ أَسْمَحَ لِخُرُوجِهِ ، وَلَيْسَ بِسُنَّةٍ ، فَمَنْ شَاءَ نَزَلَهُ ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يَنْزِلْهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that staying at the place of "Abtah" is not a Sunnah. Rather, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed there only because it was easier to depart from that side, so whoever wishes may stay there and whoever wishes may not.
